You then meet your driver and take a wonderful drive through the scenic route to Jaigaon, the vibrant Indo-Bhutan border town. After crossing the border, you have immigration procedures done, thus entering Bhutan. Phuentsholing acts as a gateway for Bhutan's commerce and provides the first taste of the culture and architecture of the country. You then check in to your hotel and rest.

Meals: Stay:

Following breakfast, proceed through the picturesque mountain routes until reaching Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, where the combination of modernization and the country's cultural heritage is reflected. On arrival, explore the town and visit the famous Memorial Chorten, which is considered one of the most significant religious places in Bhutan, where people gather every day to pray and meditate. Visit Clock Tower Square, the center of the town known for its unique architectural style, cafes, shops, and lively local scene. Stay overnight in Thimphu.

Meals: Stay:

After breakfast, start exploring more cultural sites in Thimphu. Pay a visit to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), which is famous for housing the world’s tallest statue of Buddha. This viewpoint provides amazing views of the valley of Thimphu. Next, head out to the Takin Preserve, which houses the national animal of Bhutan. This is followed by visits to the Zilukha Nunnery and Trashichhoedzong. The tour will take you through Dochu-La Pass before proceeding further to Punakha. Dochu-La Pass is situated at an altitude of over 3,000 meters above sea level and provides scenic views of the Himalayas along with some colorfully draped prayer flags and chortens. Check into the hotel on arrival and spend a night at Punakha.

Meals: Stay:

Today’s first stop will be the Valley of Punakha, which was formerly the capital of Bhutan and one of the most scenic valleys in the entire country. The star attraction of the day is undoubtedly the fortress-monastery of Punakha Dzong, also referred to as the Palace of Great Happiness. Located on the junction of the two rivers Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu, this splendid structure is considered to be one of the greatest architectural wonders of Bhutan. Next, you’ll take a leisurely walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the holy temple located amid lush rice fields. This will be followed by a visit to the suspension bridge that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty. On the way to Paro, stop at the ancient Simtokha Dzong, which is considered to be the oldest fortress in Bhutan. On reaching Paro, pay a visit to the National Museum of Ta Dzong and the historical fortress of Rinpung Dzong.

Meals: Stay:

The day is reserved for one of the most memorable moments of Bhutan: the walk to Tiger Nest Monastery, also called Taktshang Monastery. Situated on a spectacular cliff approximately 900 meters above the Paro Valley, Tiger Nest Monastery is the holiest place in Bhutan. According to popular Bhutanese mythology, the monastery received its name from Guru Rinpoche, who came here riding a flying tigress and meditated in a cave. The walk provides beautiful vistas of the valley, forests, waterfalls, and mountain scenery. On our return, visit the historic Kyichu Lhakhang, which is one of the oldest and holiest temples in Bhutan. The day will be concluded by an opportunity for a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath, which would have to be done at your own cost.
